The Ontario Chess Association:

The TDSB Individual Championship for Grades 7-12 will be held there on Friday, April 27. Permission slips will be necessary.

It will be located at: Stephen Leacock C.I. (Scarborough - Sheppard Avenue East at Birchmount Road)

What About Chess?

What About Chess...? Chess is an ancient game of strategy over 1000 years old. In almost every country of the world there are different versions of chess being played. The game of Chess is both a science and an art. It is seen as an excellent mental exercise for growing minds.Many studies show that students who play chess tend to be better at Math (Numeracy).

The Waterfront School is pleased to have a Chess Club running again, back by popular demand! The Junior/ Intermediate Chess Club meets from 12:10 till 12:45 PM in Room 8; next to the school lunchroom. The Chess Club does not cost money and is an excellent opportunity for students to learn and improve their game.

Photo Biography Peter Boross -Harmer - Peter Boross-Harmer is a Vice-Principal with the Toronto District School Board. He runs an annual chess camp for kids.
